Adult Asthma Treatment

cost asthma treatment Asthma due to some reason is more commonly found in urban areas than the rural ones and it is said that mostly twenty five per cent of all non-tuberculosis chest diseases are related to asthma somehow. Usually asthma occurs in childhood and before you hit your adult life, it goes away, but in some cases it continue in adult life, that it when asthma is at its worst. The attacks are more frequent and needless to mention much more severe than in childhood.

So what should be the adult asthma treatment to be exact? Basically the treatment ways have advanced to a great extent these days and life expectancy of asthmatics has also been increased in many ways. If the exact causes of asthma are discovered they should be eradicated from the very root. Only then can we permanently get rid of this problem. Basically what happens is that sometimes the asthma patient can develop some sort of symptom of allergy like skin rashes, itching and pruritus and running nose. In such cases the treatment of these symptoms to eradicate them fully is perhaps the best way to treat the disease altogether. If infection is the cause, the person should protect himself from stress and strain due to extremes of weather. People who are frequently attacked by common cold can get asthmatic as well, many studies have shown. There are many medicines which have been devised for the treatment of acute asthma. When the adrenergic beta-receptors of the lungs are stimulated, the bronchioles are relaxed and thus the respiratory airways are opened up. In these cases medicines like Salbutamol and terbutaline are the most successful.

Salbutamol is the most frequently used treatment medicine which produces dilatation of narrowed airways in asthma. Two types of inhalers for this purpose are found. First one is called adrenaline which has been tested again and again for the extinction of acute attack of bronchial asthma. But due to the fact that heart rhythm is sometimes disturbed by it, its use has become rare.

Medicines like Theophylline and aminophylline can dilate bronchioles directly. Aminophylline which contains theophylline and ethylenediamine as a dissolving agent, is very frequently used for the treatment of acute asthma. It is also given orally many a time as well, along with drugs like ephedrine for the possible prevention of attacks. Usually it is given to prevent night time attacks, something that is very frequent in asthmatic patients.

The average daily dosage of this medicine is such that it is usually not easily tolerated by most individuals. Aminophylline, containing 250 mg of theophylline, is diluted in 20 ml of5% glucose and injected intravenously, during five to ten minutes, only then can theophylline be tolerated by patients. It basically cause lesser gastric irritation and is better absorbed.

But these medicines too are not devoid of all adverse effects and there are a lot of precautionary measures that should be taken so that these medicines are better dissolved. They should never ever be taken on an empty stomach, as it can result in nausea and vomiting. So if handled with good care, adult asthma treatment can be given very easily and successfully.
