Symptoms Of A Severe Asthma

When asthma attacks you, usually a lot of changes happen at once to your lungs and of course your airways. More mucus is created and excreted in the cells that line your airways; much more than normal in many ways. When this happens the airways get clogged and as a result breathing starts giving you more trouble. In addition to this mucus can also settle in the lungs thus making more breathing problems for you by filling the air pockets that would normally hold the air you breathe. So these are but some symptoms of a severe asthma attack which can get anyone at any point in time.

So what happens when the muscles in your airways tighten? Well what happens is that as these muscles are wrapped around the airways they constrict the airways and cause them to contract when they tighten, thus making it difficult for you to breathe. So as a result the quantity of air that can pass through them gets limited and the ability to cough up and out the excess mucus that is being produced in the airways, is also severely damaged. Now another thing that happens is that the airways themselves begin to engorge and this all takes place in the tissue lining the airways, which eventually closes off the inside of the airways. When all three of these things happen at once symptoms of asthma start showing up.

These attacks can range from very severe to very minor and can similarly take days in developing or you could be having an attack in a day. A very severe asthma attack has proved to be fatal in many cases. You just start suffocating and can't breathe just like a fish out of water; it can be that bad literally. He person who's undergoing this severe allergy attack might feel that their neck and chest muscles are tightening. Their lips and fingernails may begin to turn bluish in color, due to the severe lack of oxygen in the air. You should immediately turn to help as soon as you establish that you might be undergoing an asthma attack as if you delay this it could prove to as bad as fatal for you. First of all you just take the prescribed medicine so that the attack is controlled and then get some real medical help. To control the attack first is essential. You just can't afford to waste time when you're having an asthma attack especially.

The only difference between a mild and a severe asthma attack is that the former is not that difficult to control and the latter if not controlled can ever take your life. The best thing about a mild asthma attack is that you just need to give the person suffering from it the prescribed medication and voila! There's nothing more that you have to do apart from that literally. Always remember to replace medications before they are finished to keep a check. An asthma attack can be a disturbing incident, but there are some things you can do that will help relieve the situation. To do that knowing the symptoms of a severe asthma allergy is almost essential.
