Walking Or Running For Weight Loss

Many people think that maybe running is something that you should do in order to lose weight quickly. But if you are really interested in running to lose weight you should at least choose the best way to do running. But the best thing in my opinion is to trade running with walking as the latter is better in every way possible. Walking is one trick that turns your body into a fat burning machine.

I have heard many things about running but I think the thing that mainly can be said the most about it is that running just doesn't make you lose as much weight as you think it will. It's just not that effective at all. There is this whole debate about impact injuries but I will not indulge into that. You should instead know more about the proper way to run, which is by following the general principle called HIIT. This is the short form for high intensity interval training. The main idea is to run all out fast and then reduce your speed for a little time that is doing it in intervals.

So basically you will run really fast for around 10 seconds and then will either jog slowly or walk for 20-30 seconds. And will repeat the thing for regular intervals. You should continue this routine of 10 seconds really fast followed by 20-30 seconds of slower jogging or walking. So why is this approach better than walking or running for weight loss in isolation? Basically, because if you only run it will result in an after burn effect on your body. Your body just doesn't stop burning fat and calories at an accelerated rate after you are finished with running. Instead, it keeps burning fat in a hyper state for up to 18 hours after you've finished it totally.

I would still prefer that you walk rather than run if you want to burn fat at an accelerated speed. Walking on a flat surface does not probably do a lot for effective weight loss. It will help you maintain your figure in the long run, but nothing will happen fast. If you really think about it, a small change is all you need to get extremely fast weight loss results. The best thing to do probably is to walk on an incline. So if you can't find a hill to walk on just incline a treadmill 10-15 degrees and walk on that for 15-20 minutes a day. Treadmills can really do wonders as far as this sort of walking is concerned. You might ask why should one walk instead of running. Just because running is effective only at an extreme intensity and many people can just not handle that sort of intensity at all. It's ok to choose running in order to lose weight, but the best part is still to try out this method of walking and see the weight loss results for yourself.

So out of walking or running for weight loss, my favorite will always be walking for its sheer convenience and great effectiveness.
